Developing a love of reading is absolutely at the heart of our school. We want children to be excited and enthused by books and what they have to offer! To deepen children's love of literature, we want book talk to become part of their everyday lives, and so we extend our challenge to develop a love of reading to our families too. We do this through initiatives such as Breakfast with a Book - where families come in and read for the first half hour of the day; we provide the breakfast and the books. We invite Secret Readers into school - where families sign up and surprise their child and their class by turning up to read a story. We have a reading programme for families in Reception - a 6-week training programme where we support them in how best to support their child on their reading journey at home, as well as inviting parents on our library visits.
