Our Advent Projects
Each year, St. Bernadette's community are set an Advent challenge. The idea is that we use Advent as a time to spread Hope, Joy and Prayer to others. The children are key in planning the missions and have very much embraced each project - enjoying enormous success of spreading such values to those in need. Our projects have reached over 20k people via social media and we have been delighted to receive thousands of messages of thanks from around the world including: Australia, America, Dubai and Hong Kong!
2024 - Our SEEDS OF HOPE project
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord…“Plans to give you hope and a future. "
Jeremiah 29:11
As part of their Fatih in Action Award, Year 6 have designed and prepared our entire Advent Project this year: SEEDS OF HOPE. They have thoughtfully chosen each element and wanted to spread hope to all, whilst raising awareness of Father David’s incredible work in Muhoroni.
During each week of Advent, children will have the opportunity to make their own “Seeds of Hope” bags to spread hope in the community. These bags include a special letter, a prayer card, a handmade Christmas Card and an envelope of Aster seeds, which symbolise resilience and hope.
This year, we have challenged the children to give their bags to those who need it most or to hide them in the community for someone who might need a little hope this Advent season to find. The children would be delighted to see the impact of their “Seeds of Hope” and receive messages back from any recipients. It is truly wonderful when we see the projects come to life and can share this with our whole school.
Below is just a snapshot of the hope already spreading in the community. To follow our "Seeds of Hope" project further, please follow our Facebook and Instagram pages.
