About Us
Welcome
I am very proud to welcome you to St. Bernadette's Catholic Primary School, part of Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust. We are extremely proud of our thriving community which is made up of an inspiring group of talented and enthusiastic children; dedicated and passionate staff; a supportive and committed local governing committee and an extremely supportive and active parent body.
Our vision that our whole community will 'Live the Gospel and when necessary use words' is at the heart of all we do. As such, we have high expectations of all stakeholders, ourselves and our children. In order to achieve our vision, we set challenging spiritual, moral, social, cultural and academic targets. Every one is encouraged to reach their full potential and recognise the contribution they can make to our school, parish and wider community.
Partnership with parents and carers is a vital part of how we achieve success. Our weekly 'Bernadette's Blog,' keeps parents up to date with the on-going activities, achievements and success of our children; curriulum evenings, parents meetings and family learning days are designed to inform parents of curriculum expectations; termly reports provide opportunities for staff to communicate pupil progress, and school masses, liturgies and class assemblies offer parents, carers and families the opportunity to worship and pray with their children.
We are extremely proud of our school and strive to ensure that all of our children feel motivated, confident and safe to learn.
In the words of Archbishop Oscar Romero, at St. Bernadette's, 'We aspire not to have more but to be more.'
